Microteaching 1 - Rice & Alternatives

Romantic Meal for 2

Dishes:
1. Spicy seafood spaghetti
2. Hawaii-o-pizza
3. Potato & prawn cutlet
4. Lemon drizzle cake

14th September is the day when the first microteaching group kicks off...

I believe the microteaching group must have felt nervous and panicky yet excited! Nervous and panicky as they are the first group to microteach yet excited as they would be preparing a number of dishes to the class, which means all of us will get the chance to eat all the 4 dishes prepared at the end! Yummy...

Firstly, I would like to congratulate them in doing a good job though they were some hiccups here and there. Secondly, they did a good job in presenting their theme - romantic for 2. Well thought decoration with contrasting white flower petals scattered on a maroon coloured cloth, a bouquet of flowers accompanying the whole decoration and a candle which adds on to the whole romantic feel.

Learning points to take home with:
(1) Before the start of a practical lesson, always make sure the students set up their work bench by collecting tea towel, dish cloth and tray for putting wet cutlery and utensils.

(2) Collection of all ingredients must be done using food trays.

(3) Extra ingredients left must be distributed among the students, especially perishable ingredients such as vegetables.

(4) Projection of the teacher's voice is important. It must be loud and clear when instructions are given out.

(5) Teacher should station themselves at the ingredients station to make sure students get the correct ingredients (especially the quantity) and could distribute the ingredients to save time and prevent students from over-crowding around the ingredients station.
